the therapists and the 1-800-THERAPIST referral counselors. The director at
1-800-THERAPIST screens therapists who wish to receive referrals, provides phone
consultations with the therapists as needed, and provides supervision of the
referral counselors on a daily basis. The 1-800-THERAPIST NETWORK has been
recognized by the

Congress and by many professional

WHO ARE THE THERAPISTS IN THE 1-800-THERAPIST NETWORK?
Mental health professionals who are in private practice and are interested in
affiliating with this service must be licensed and experienced in their field,
and are required to have malpractice insurance. They must also document their
areas of expertise and must be recommended by other professionals. They need to
have an area of expertise that augments what the program already offers. Persons
who wish to apply for membership in the service must speak to the Qualifications
Director to verify they meet the basic criteria. An application and additional
information is mailed to them. Upon return, a personal interview is scheduled
before acceptance. Psychiatrists, psychologists, marriage and family counselors,
clinical social workers, licensed professional counselors, and psychiatric
nurses may apply. The therapists in the 1-800-THERAPIST Network are re-certified
annually by our Executive Committee.
WHAT IS THE COVERAGE AREA OF THE 1-800-THERAPIST NETWORK?
Your local 1-800-THERAPIST network is actually a part of a larger,
International referral system of mental health professionals. So if you need to
