Aricept (donepezil) is an oral medication used primarily to treat the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease. It is part of a a class of medications called cholinesterase inhibitors. It works by affecting the acetylcholine receptors in the brain, which may cause improved memory, attention, social interaction, reasoning and language abilities, and ability to perform activities of daily living.
It is important to note that Aricept will not cure Alzheimer's Disease. Aricept has also been used to treat conditions beyond Alzheimers. Speak with your doctor about how you should use Aricept.
