Accutane

Accutane (Isotretinoin) is used to treat the most severe form of acne (nodular acne) that cannot be cleared up by any other acne treatments, including antibiotics. Accutane is only for patients who understand and agree to carry out all the instructions in the iPLEDGE program, because Accutane can cause serious side effects.

ACE inhibitors

ACE inhibitors, or inhibitors of Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme, are a group of pharmaceuticals that are used primarily in treatment of hypertension and congestive heart failure, in most cases as the drugs of first choice.

Adderall

Adderall is a stimulant amphetamine used to treat attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy. It was first prescribed in the 1920s as an anorectic (weight loss medication; under the brand name Obetrol®), but such usage is now rare. This product is a combination of Dextroamphetamine and Amphetamine.

Alprazolam

Alprazolam can be used to treat anxiety and panic disorder.  Alprazolam®(also known as Xanax) is a short-acting drug in the benzodiazepine class that is used to treat anxiety disorders and panic disorders. It is also used as an optional, or supportive treatment for people with depression.

Celxa

Celexa (citalopram) is an antidepressant drug used to treat depression associated with mood disorders. It is also used on occasion in the treatment of body dysmorphic disorder and anxiety. Celexa treats depression. Celexa is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI).

Cymbalta

Cymbalta (duloxetine) helps balance your mood by targeting two chemicals in the brain, serotonin and norepinephrineneurotransmitters.  Cymbalta does not affect other neurotransmitters, which reduces the side effects when compared to some other antidepressants. Taking this drug on a regular basis should help make you feel better, reduce your symptoms or provide the results you and your doctor discussed.

Effexor

Effexor (Venlafaxine) is used to treat depression, certain types of anxiety disorders, and panic disorders.  Venlafaxine hydrochloride (marketed as Effexor®) is a prescription antidepressant first introduced by Wyeth in 1993. It belongs to class of antidepressants called serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRI).

Lexapro

Lexapro is useful for treating mood problems, such as depression and anxiety.  Lexapro® is Forest Laboratories' brand name for escitalopram. It is a medication developed by the Danish pharmaceutical company Lundbeck, that acts as aselective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI).

Lithium

Lithium treatment is used to treat mania in bipolar disorder. Initially, lithium is often used in conjunction with antipsychotic drugs as it can take up to a week for lithium to have an effect. Lithium is also used as prophylaxis for depression and mania in bipolar disorder. 

Paxil

Paxil is useful for many mood problems including: depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Paxil® is a trade name for paroxetine or paroxetine hydrochloride, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant.
